A boots-on-the-ground look at the Golden Valley gold mine
Significant upside potential of previously untapped mineralized sulphide ore
CALGARY, Canada (Feb. 5, 2024)—We’ve previously discussed the significant potential offered by Golden Valley’s historic underground gold mine. Now that we’ve secured safe access by installing ring-backed ladders to the previous workings, we can actually demonstrate the scope of that potential.
As the pictures below portray, this is a big site. It’s roughly the same surface area as a soccer field with historical workings running down the whole way.
Despite the extent of previous workings, we believe that Golden Valley mine could possess significant untapped upside.
This is because the potential for gold mineralization in sulphide ore does not appear to have ever been properly tested—historical mining predominantly extracted oxide material.
Based on the orientation of the ore body, we believe sulphides could extend beyond the limits of the mine for more than a kilometer—potentially a lot of ore.
So, we’re planning on testing the extension of the ore body and its gold content through a highly focused work program of underground surveying, sampling and core drilling.
If the gold’s there, we have the modern expertise and technology at our disposal to extract it economically.
The upside could be considerable, and we look forward to receiving the results of our work and using it to guide our next steps at the project.
In the meantime, here are some more pictures showing the sheer scale of Golden Valley’s underground mine as it exists today.
